Margaret Allyene Shoemaker, better known as “Memaw” passed away on April 9, 2022, leaving behind a family that will forever miss her.
She was born October 21, 1942, to parents Willard Hughes and Mable Hamley in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She married the love of her life, Joe Shoemaker on August 30, 1965. They shared many wonderful years together before he passed away in 2009.
“Memaw” was a lady who loves to sit outdoors and drink her coffee in the mornings or watch the birdfeeder for the birds that came every day. When she wasn’t doing either of those things, she enjoyed spending time in her garden.
She was close to her family, and her two great-granddaughters were her world. In 2010, she fully retired and really began living the life a grandmother should. She enjoyed vacationing with her son’s family and having more time to spend on the porch to drink a coffee.
“Memaw” is survived by her daughters Cynthia Ann Weatherly and husband Michael, and Catherine Lynn Jordan, and sons Ronald Kevin Shoemaker and Robert Ryan Shoemaker and wife Samantha. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four siblings.
“Memaw” was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Joe.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. April 15 at Hart Cemetery in Greenville.
