Tuesday, March 15 was a banner day for two Greenville High School VEX teams.

Teams 4148A and 4148E partnered in the final round to win the Texas 5A UIL State Championship in Houston!

At the end of the qualification rounds, Team 4148A was in second place. They chose their fellow Lions as their alliance partner for the final rounds. Together, the teams earned the title of “State Champs.”

Each GHS team ranked in the top five of the skills competition, with Team 4148E coming in first with a combined drive and programming score of 486.

To cap off an already impressive day, Team 4148A was awarded the Excellence Award for best overall team. With this achievement, Team 4148A earned the right to interview for the Excellence Award at the VEX Robotics World Championship.

Both squads had already qualified for the Worlds competition before the state tournament. Worlds will take place in Dallas May 5-7.

“Winning one banner at a state event is hard enough, winning four total just shows how dedicated these students have been all year.” GISD Robotics advisor Corey Bankston said.

Please congratulate these amazing students.
